A downloadable soundtrack

The soundtrack on this ROM comes from the remastered version of Badliz's "The Great Strategy," more commonly known for being the background music for Roblox's original trailer from 2006.

This showcases the Gameboy's ability to play high-quality, 8-bit accuracy stereo PCM audio with no special hardware, this example being played at a crunchy 12,483Hz due to its cinematic length of almost five and a half minutes!

While I originally pioneered the concept nearly a year ago, it wasn't until more recently when I upped the quality enough to run acceptably on a DMG- it previously was relegated to the Gameboy Color due to my lack of assembly optimization skills and my primitive knowledge of how to handle playback.

I aim to have the release of my GBAudioPlayerV3 program be up on my Github by the end of October, so stay tuned for that!

P.S. I submitted this just for the novelty, I'm not expecting any awards for it- I just want it to reach a wider audience. I also submitted this partly because I gave up on my 2bpp GBC video encoder, because it was getting too difficult to code.

Install instructions

Because this demo relies heavily on the behavior of the Gameboy's analog circuitry, this will not run properly on a Gameboy Advance (sounds like garbage.) For best results when no hardware is available, run this on an accurate emulator like Sameboy, or BGB (still not ideal.)

For running on hardware: requires a flash cartridge that supports MBC5 and 8MiB of ROM. Works on GB Boy Colour- I actually developed this using one exclusively!

Ok

I have a problem, I have a gb emulator (it also emulates the gb you mentioned) but I run it and it stays in the nintendo® logo and it stays that way please I need an answer

What emulator are you using?

It should stay on the Nintendo logo because I don't update any graphics after startup, but if there isn't any sound or there's distorted sound, try using BGB or Sameboy. Those are the only two emulators I know that work with this demo because their sound emulation is very accurate.

will u shut
